If you realize the importance of having a web site for your business, then you understand its significance as a valuable marketing tool.
Most business owners have a web site designed to be included in advertisements and on business cards, but have you seriously considered the importance of keeping the content up-to-date?
If a potential customer visits your site and finds incomplete pages, broken links or out-of-date prices, products, and photographs, what does this convey to them about your business? If they continuously see the phrase “under construction,” pretty soon they will no longer visit your site. You’ve lost a customer!
Make a New Year’s resolution to visit your own web site at least monthly. Do you know how to check the number of ‘hits’ you’re getting each month? Are all of the links still active? Do the logo, colors and content support the branding of your company by matching your business cards and collateral materials? Are your phone numbers and E-mail address correct? Does your site appear prominently in search results? If not, it’s time for an overhaul.
Perhaps your site could use a more professional look or just a new format. Put a note on your monthly ‘to-do’ list to contact your web designer at the beginning of each month to discuss making your desired changes.
